ITINERARY
Monumental Naples Tour + Spanish Quarters & Murals + Exclusive visit to the San Carlo Theater
Our Guide will starting tour of the main monuments of the area including Castel Nuovo – also known as Maschio Angioino, Galleria Umberto I, Piazza del Plebiscito – with the Church of San Francesco di Paola and the Real Palace.
We will continue with a visit of the famous area named Quartieri Spagnoli, located in the beating heart of Naples.
Quartieri Spagnoli are among the oldest and most characteristic areas of the city center of the Neapolitan city. They flank the always lively and crowded via Toledo, which acts as a border between two spaces of the city with different histories: on one side the luxury of the Galleria Umberto I, the Teatro San Carlo, the Royal Palace, on the other an intricate maze of alleys that are a little dark, given the proximity and size of the buildings – a sort of a city within a city, an important testimony of the life of the Neapolitan people. You will reach the famous Toledo metro station and continue to a beautiful walk along the meandering alleys of colors and popular and international Neapolitan art, in which Murals and Street Art merge between low buildings and churches, becoming the true conjunction of the Sacred and the Profane
Following is a visit to the famous San Carlo Theater, founded in 1737 by the will of Charles III of Bourbon, the opera house of Naples, the oldest opera house in Europe and in the world to still be active, as well as the first Italian theater to establish a dance school.
